God’s Word on Abortion
There has been much
political debate on the topic of abortion, but all too few--even among pastors
and churches--have accurately stated what God, in His Word, says of abortion.
In the Bible, God clearly tells us that He creates and gives human life: "For
Thou hast possessed my reins: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praiseThee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." (Psalm 139:13-14); and, "As
thou knowest not what is the way of
the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with
child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all." (Ecclesiastes 11:5). God has also
given specific commandments regarding the taking of human life, of which He is
the Creator: "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by
man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man."
(Genesis 9:6); and, "Thou shalt not
kill" (Exodus

also tells of His judgment upon those who murder--and this judgment is the
same, whether it be the killing of an adult, a child,
or an unborn child. The Bible says of those who murder: "That they

message of God’s Word which is heard even less in the abortion debate than what
has just been said, and this is a message of comfort and hope for all of us who
have sinned against God’s holy commandments and fear His wrath. God, in His
Word, also tells us that He has provided a way of salvation for sinners, that
we might not be condemned to eternal suffering in hell, but have forgiveness
for our sins and eternal life with Him in heaven. The Bible tells us that: "God
so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have
