WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE OF CHRIST'S RESURRECTION FOR US?

The Bible tells us that Christ Jesus "was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification" (Romans 4:25). Jesus suffered and died upon the cross to pay the price for our sins and the sins of the whole world, and His resurrection is proof that God accepted Jesus' sacrifice of Himself for sin. Because Jesus died for our sins and rose again on the third day, we know that God accepted His death as full payment for our sins, and that God counts us to be and just and righteous in His eyes for Jesus' sake.

Jesus said, "Because I live, ye shall live also" (John 14:19). These words would mean little if Jesus' body were still laying in a tomb somewhere in Israel; but Jesus did rise bodily from the grave on the third day and appear unto His disciples. Because Jesus paid for our sins and rose again from the dead, we have the assurance that He will also raise us up on the Last Day and grant unto us and all believers in Christ everlasting life with Him in heaven!
