What must I do to hear God speak to me in a still small voice?

I would suggest that you prayerfully read and study God's Word, the Bible; for therein God speaks to man and reveals to us those things which we need to know. The Bible itself says (in 2 Timothy 3:14-17): "But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."

In regard to any "inner convictions" or "nudgings" which you may feel and wonder if God is leading you in one way or another, always be sure that they are in full agreement with the word and will of God which are clearly revealed by God in the pages of Holy Scripture; for our own heart and Satan himself can easily mislead us if we do not hold fast to the revealed Word of God, the Scriptures. I think of the words of Isaiah 8:20: "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." The same, of course, holds true of our own thoughts, words, convictions, etc. In short, God has clearly spoken to us through His Word, the Bible. That is where we ought look to hear the voice of God and to find His direction and will for our lives.

Jesus says: "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you...I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst...And this is the will of Him that sent Me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day" (John 6:27,35,40). God first of all desires that all of us turn to Him and trust in Jesus Christ, God the Son, for forgiveness and eternal salvation. In His Word, we also then find the direction we need to live our lives for Him.
