DOES GOD TAKE SIN LIGHTLY?

Many assume that He does--that He will not punish us if we live at least a half-way decent life. Many feel that God just smiles at our little sins--that a small amount of foul language, a few too many drinks, a couple of white lies, will not hurt anybody. But God says otherwise! God says, "The soul that sinneth, it shall die" (Ezekiel 18:20a). Adam and Eve disobeyed only one little command of God when they ate of the forbidden fruit, and consider the consequences for all of God's creation (cf. Genesis 3; Romans 5:12ff.). God does not take sin lightly! No sin goes unpunished! The ONLY WAY that God can and will pardon our sins and shortcomings is for the sake of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is only because Jesus Christ lived a sinless and holy life in our place, and then suffered upon the cross the full punishment for our sins and the sins of the whole world, that we sinners can be pardoned and forgiven by God and granted everlasting life with Him in heaven. The Bible tells us: "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Don't take sin lightly! Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and trust in Him for forgiveness and life!
