DOES GOD TAKE SIN LIGHTLY?
Many assume that He does--that He
will not punish us if we live at least a half-way decent life. Many feel that
God just smiles at our little sins--that a small amount of foul
language, a few too many drinks, a couple of white lies, will not hurt
anybody. But God says otherwise! God says, "The soul that sinneth, it shall die" (Ezekiel 18:20a). Adam and
Eve disobeyed only one little command of God when they ate of the forbidden
fruit, and consider the consequences for all of God's creation (cf. Genesis 3;
Romans 5:12ff.). God does not take sin lightly! No sin goes unpunished! The ONLY
WAY that God can and will pardon our sins and shortcomings is for the sake
of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is only because Jesus Christ lived a sinless and
holy life in our place, and then suffered upon the cross the full punishment
for our sins and the sins of the whole world, that we sinners can be pardoned
and forgiven by God and granted everlasting life with Him in heaven. The Bible
