I'VE HAD AN ABORTION; WHAT DO I DO?

To feel guilt and remorse after having had an abortion is normal and to be expected. The Bible tells us why so many women who have had abortions feel this way. Abortion is not just the removal of a mass of cells; it is the termination of a human life which God was creating and forming in the womb. The Bible says: "For Thou hast possessed my reins [our innermost being]: Thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise Thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are Thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well" (Psalm 139:13-14). From conception onward, the formation of a child in a mother's womb is a wonderful, creative work of the LORD God, who has created us all and given us life! To terminate a pregnancy is to kill a little child being formed in the womb; and this is contrary to God's commandment: "Thou shalt not kill" (Exodus 20:13). Mothers of aborted babies feel guilt and remorse because they have sinned against God and taken a human life. No matter how hard they may try to cover up this fact, deep down they know it's true.

What do you do if you have had an abortion? Sadly, what's been done cannot be undone. You cannot bring back this baby to life and nurture and care for it as God intended. Nothing you can do will ever make the abortion you have had right. But there is ONE WAY (and only one way) to truly deal with the guilt you now feel; and that is to acknowledge your sin to the LORD God who has made you, and to seek His forgiveness! You see, in spite of our sinfulness and unworthiness, God still loves us; and He sent His Son to die for us and bear the full guilt and punishment for our sins. In Jesus Christ, there is forgiveness and salvation for even the worst of sinners. Again, the Bible says: "For Thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon Thee" (Psalm 86:5). The remorse and sadness over the loss of this child will be with you throughout your life; but in Jesus Christ, and upon His cross, the guilt and punishment for this, and all your sins, has been paid for in full! Trust in Jesus; He will cleanse you and make you pure in God's eyes.
